FoShan Customs Seized 25.6 Tons Dried Sea Cucumber Fraudulently Declared

Recently an enterprise made declaration to Shunde Office of Foshan customs for importing a shipment with 25.6 tons of dried sea cucumber (apostichopus japonicus) by general trade. But during the inspection, the on-field customs officers found that the sea cucumbers were not the same variety as the declared, which meant that the enterprise might mis-declare the name of the sea cucumbers. They drew samples and sent to a professional organization for identification. And the result showed that the dried sea cucumbers were actually Stichopus japonicus, Halodeima atra, Bohadschia graeffei,Thelenota ananas and Actinopyga echinites instead of apostichopus japonicus. And these varieties have not yet been listed in the Catalogue for Food Products that Meet Assessment Requirements and from Countries/Regions China Has Traditional Trading with, which means that they are not allowed to be imported into China.

Reminder from RenFan, the leading China Customs Agent, in accordance our country’s Quarantine Law for Entry & Exit Animals and Plants and relevant regulations and previsions, sea cucumbers as a type of aquatic animals are banned from importing by carry or post. Sea cucumbers and other aquatic animals that imported by freights shall submit relevant permit and documents and quarantine and inspection before entry. Fraudulent declaration like above case is definitely not allowed.
